Further Information

Liz is currently studying at Bath Spa University for a BA (Hons) in Photography. Her primary interest is documentary photography, using literature, blogs, poetry and other writings as a key part of her inspiration and research. Liz's current projects explore the relationship of nature and man's impacts on our landscape, both rural and urban, capturing a snapshot in time.

Most of her projects are shot using a digital camera; her real passion though is film and, in particular, medium format. "Shooting and developing film is a much slower and more precise process, which really forces you to think hard about what you are doing – and the resulting images have a very different tonality and feel."

Liz has lived on the Brendon Hills for 30 years, and it is a landscape that she loves – in all weathers and seasons. Her project 'Heydon Hill Wood', photographed on the Brendon’s, draws inspiration from Henry Thoreau's book Walden, a record of the two years he spent in the mid 19th Century escaping modern life, living simply and self-sufficiently in a log cabin he built in a wood close to Walden Pond, near Concord, Massachusetts.
